The Final Bow

This class has been a true adventure! I have loved and hated it at times, but one thing is for sure I will definetly remember it. This class has challenged me mentally so much and I wouldn't have it any other way. Everything that we have learned I believe I will remember. No english class will ever compare and I am so glad to have been able to go through this awesome opportunity.
I have been quite sick this year and if this class was pen and pencil most likely I would have failed and not been able to walk. Yet I was lucky and when I was sick I could just work on stuff from home and talk to my team members about what they needed me to do. I love that about this class and it is really helpful. I think that if this technic of learning was in other subjects students would do much better in school. Sometimes people get sick and if you're sick you should not be forced to come to school when you could just do the same work from home.
I could not have had a better teacher. Ms. McChesney has taught me so much and we have so much fun learning in her class. I had her once in the tenth grade for English and she has always been one of my favorite teachers to have. She puts a twist to every assignment and Riverside really could not have picked a better teacher to do this experience. She keeps us interested and really does understand and listen to us. I will miss her and her class greatly in college.
My team is called
Flash Fever which consists of Me, Hannah Carrico, and Tiffiney Wilson. My team mates were amazing. As a team we went through so much with code and even had an amazing game crash a few days before presentation, but together we pulled through and made a totally new game with hardley any trouble. We agreed and got along so well. We all have became so much closer since this project and I am really glad I got to work with them. Poor Hannah was sick on presentation day and even though I know she feels terrible, I personally understand being really ill. So I of course was not mad and wanted her to feel better soon! All in all our game turned out great and I couldn't be happier with it. I'm so proud of my team!
All of my classmates are so brilliant in their own ways. Everyone's games turned out amazing and I think we all pushed ourselves farther than we thought we could. When I stepped in that class on that first day I know I wasn't expecting to come this far in flash. I find myself still going to peoples wikis and playing their games just for fun! This is by far my favorite class all year!
Now we are graduating and although this is one of the happiest things in my life I can't help but be sad that this class is over. I have made friendships stronger and I hope we all can stay in touch. I have grown in this class and all of the social issues discussed has really made me realize how much I have. I will never forget this class or the people in it. I never thought English 12 would be fun, but it really was. I hope they continue to have subjects on globaloria like they have with my class. Everyone at Globaloria is helpful and smart, which means that this new technique could go far and hopefully decline the drop out rates.
I just want to say thank you to my teacher, my team mates, my friends and all of the Globaloria people. You have all contributed to helping me see what life has to offer and how far the world is evolving. Technology has came so far and I am glad to be a tiny part of the experimentation process. This class was like no other and there will never be any comparison to this class

Other Team's Games.

First I visited Jessica and Jeremiah's game. I thought it was very interesting and I really liked their game. I never did beat the game though. There is really no mean criticism I can give to the game. It is well put together and fun to play while you learn about a topic affecting West Virginia. I think possibly they could make it a little bit easier since it is very hard to win. I do believe this game meets the requirements educationally and it is easy to understand.

The Second team page I visited was Chad and Ashley's game. It is very cute and educational at the same time. I absolutely loved it! It is by far the best game I have seen so far. The graphics are really good and the facts are unbelievable about the topics. I didn't lose although I got the wrong answer multiple times so they might need to work on that. I really like the design of the game and the buttons, i might make our buttons more interesting. This topic definetly meets the educational requirements.

In my own personal opinion I think that West Virginia is a beautiful and sentimental place to live. Charleston isn't my favorite city because there's limited things for teenagers to do on the weekend, but all in all West Virginia is not boring. Our mountains are big and beautiful and so are out rivers and trees. This recent accident is a pure tragedy to all of us. Even people half way across the world. Many people lost their loved ones and I send my heart out to them. Coal miners are why our porch light comes on at night. Without them there wouldn't be energy to cook, watch television, have light to read a book, our world would be dark. I have the most respect for our miners and I will continue to pray for them and their families.

West Virginia has grown more and more popular as a state and we are shining brighter than ever. From sports to school we are starting to get better and better. Finally we are being viewed as the smart and talented state we are, but incidents that happen as what happened at massey brings us back down. Massey knew very well they needed to improve their mines and they didn't. How does that make us look and how does that make the families of these miners feel that their bosses didn't care enough to fix it and make their work environment as safe as possible.

I think that people around the world are shocked by this and are doing their best to support us in our darkest time. As a country America comes together when it is important. This is a devastation to the whole world. I know we can pull together and get through this. I can't push enough how much I believe God only takes the special ones. He has a plan for all of us, it just takes time to unravel.

Changing Colors

I thought this was really cool but very complicated. I highly doubt I will ever even attempt flash after this class! It is so hard to me and I wish I could do it more easily. The converting to buttons was really simple at first but now changing them and making them actually do something is a totally different story. I am not good at code at all, but I hope to get better. PJ helped so much and I think we would all be lost without him!

Canterbury Tales

I believe the Chaucer selected these specific sterotypes because he wanted to show that all different kinds of people go through the same places. Chaucer wants us to open our eyes to them and really imagine them. He wants us to invision them. Also to show that either rich or poor a person can be good. I also believe he wants us to see all people from a certain type of angle.
Each character had its own role in this paticular society. I believe that Chaucer wants us to realize that it takes each and every one of these types of people to make the world go round. With this society these characters are the people who peers look up to. These characters have impacts on everyones life.
I do believe that this is an honest depiction of this time era and the people. It very well shows what it was like back then. It also gives the time era more of a personality. Chaucer makes it easier to see what it was like back then and to be able to put yourself in that time era.
Characters in a video game are very important. For the longer video games, I enjoy it when they have a background story on the characters. If your characters are boring then why would you want to play the game? Usually characters are well put together and have good personality.
I don't think that characterization is only important in books and movies, I believe that in fact without it you could not have a video game. If there is no plot and the characters are not interesting noone would want to play video games. In my personal opinion there has to be some type of characterization in video gaming to make it work.

Buttons, Buttons, Buttons!

Flash is getting easier and easier as we go. Buttons are actually pretty simple. You write in the textbox and remember to write it in static text! Then right click and choose convert to symbol. Then you press the obvious thing, button! Right now as a team we are creating the actual scenes to our game. It is really helpful to have buttons for a game. The actual creation of the scenes is difficult at first and making sure all of the buttons are working and the drawings are perfect.

Beowulf 1

In what I have read so far Beowulf meets the requirements of a hero because he is very brave and wants to help people. He is a tad bit boastful and that could be a weakness later, but for now it seems to help him in his fights. In my opinion I believe Beowulf would make an excellent video game character, it would just need the right creator. He is smart, brave, and a good man so far. This would also be a great storyline for a video game. A good character in a video game should be smart and strong.
